Evacuation Ski Sheet
The Ski Sheet is manufactured by Hospital Aids and distributed in Ireland by Phoenix STS (Safety Equipment Ireland), the fire safety and health and safety consultancy and training provider.
The Ski Sheet is the original on the bed evacuation sheet, designed for hospitals, nursing homes and other care settings. It stays fitted to the underside of the mattress at all times, so when an emergency evacuation is called, staff can cocoon a non ambulant patient or resident inside their own mattress and slide them to safety without lifting them at all.
Four elastic corner straps hold the sheet under the mattress, where it remains instantly accessible, and the cross straps sit in discreet pockets on the underside. In an emergency, staff pull the straps from their pockets, secure them over the person, slide the mattress off the bed using the head and foot end handles, and tow it along the escape route, down stairs if necessary.
