ZOLL AEDs and defibrillators for workplaces, healthcare settings, schools and public buildings across Ireland. Every AED purchase should come with a plan: placement, signage, weekly checks, pads and battery replacement dates, and staff who are confident to use it. Our team advises on all of it — and AED and CFR training is available through Phoenix STS, so your people are certified, not just equipped.
Defibrillators Ireland
Safety Equipment Ireland supplies ZOLL defibrillators and AEDs, replacement pads and batteries, cabinets, carry cases, trainer units and AED accessories to workplaces, schools, sports clubs, public buildings, healthcare services and community responder groups across Ireland. Everything is supplied on a quotation basis: pick the products that fit your site, send an enquiry, and the team confirms compatibility, availability and delivery.
safetyequipment.ie is owned and operated by Phoenix STS, the fire safety and health and safety consultancy and training provider. That matters when you are choosing an AED, because the team advising on the device also works with Irish employers on emergency planning and first aid training. To talk through a requirement, call 043 3349611 or email [email protected].
How to choose an AED
Start with where the defibrillator will live and who is likely to use it. A unit at an office reception desk needs a different setup to a pitch-side cabinet at a sports ground, and an AED in a public space should suit untrained rescuers, not just trained responders.
Semi-automatic or fully automatic. A semi-automatic AED prompts the rescuer to press the shock button; a fully automatic AED delivers the shock itself once it detects a shockable rhythm and warns the rescuer to stand clear. Both versions are stocked across the ZOLL AED Plus, ZOLL AED 3 and Powerheart ranges.
Location and storage. Indoor units usually sit in a wall bracket or cabinet near a phone; outdoor and vehicle-based units need protective cabinets or carry cases. Matching storage and carry options are listed under defibrillator bags and cases and defibrillator accessories.
Ongoing readiness. Electrode pads and batteries are consumables with expiry dates, so build replacement into the plan from day one. The AED pads and batteries replacement guide explains what to check and when, and compatible consumables are listed under defibrillator pads and batteries.
For a fuller walk-through of the decision, read the defibrillator and AED buying guide for Ireland before sending your enquiry.
Who needs a defibrillator in Ireland?
No Irish regulation lists premises that must install an AED. The duty comes from the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, which requires employers to plan for emergencies and to base first aid provision on a risk assessment. In plain terms, if your assessment shows a realistic cardiac arrest risk, because of workforce size, public footfall, physical exertion or distance from emergency services, then providing an AED is the practical way to show that duty has been met.
AEDs are widely provided in schools, commercial buildings, hospitals and nursing homes, and in sports and community facilities where the first minutes of a cardiac arrest pass long before an ambulance arrives.
Brands stocked
The defibrillator range is built around ZOLL Medical. It covers the ZOLL AED Plus and ZOLL AED 3 families together with the Powerheart G3 and G5 series, formerly Cardiac Science products and now part of ZOLL. Working with one manufacturer keeps pad, battery and accessory compatibility simple. The full range is collected on the ZOLL defibrillators Ireland page.
Popular AED products

AED training
An AED on the wall is only half the answer; staff need the confidence to use it under pressure. Phoenix STS delivers the Heartsaver AED course for workplace responders, and equipment and training can be included in the same enquiry.
Defibrillator and AED FAQs
Do Irish workplaces legally have to install an AED? No single regulation makes AEDs compulsory. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires employers to base first aid and emergency provision on a risk assessment, and that assessment is where the AED decision is made and recorded.
Should I choose a semi-automatic or fully automatic AED? A semi-automatic unit prompts the rescuer to press the shock button; a fully automatic unit delivers the shock itself after warning the rescuer to stand clear. Both types are stocked, and the right choice depends on who is likely to reach the casualty first.
Can untrained staff use an AED? Yes. Models such as the ZOLL AED Plus are designed for both trained and untrained rescuers, with voice and visual prompts guiding each step. Training is still strongly recommended, because confident responders act faster.
What ongoing maintenance does an AED need? Pads and batteries have expiry dates and must be replaced on schedule, and the unit's readiness indicator should be checked routinely. Include your AED make and model in an enquiry and the team will quote compatible replacements.
Do you supply paediatric pads? Yes. Paediatric defibrillation pads and paediatric training electrodes are stocked for supported ZOLL and Powerheart models. Include the AED model in your enquiry so compatibility can be confirmed.
How does the enquiry process work? No prices are shown online. Send the product names, quantities and delivery location through the contact page, or call 043 3349611, and the sales team responds with a quotation covering availability, compatibility and delivery.
Can AED training be arranged with the equipment? Yes. Phoenix STS delivers AED training for workplaces, and the requirement can be added to the same enquiry as the equipment so devices and training are organised together.
