The Ski Pad is manufactured by Hospital Aids and distributed in Ireland by Phoenix STS (Safety Equipment Ireland), the fire safety and health and safety consultancy and training provider.
The Hospital Aids Ski Pad is one of the original padded evacuation mats, built for the quick, safe movement of non ambulant people in an emergency. It comes into its own where space is tight: congested hospital wards, narrow corridors and single width fire doors. It also suits people who must be moved lying flat or who cannot sit safely in an evacuation chair.
The pad lives in a wall mountable, wipe clean storage bag. In an emergency, the person is transferred onto the pad and secured with the high visibility yellow seat belt style straps and metal buckles. A 5cm thick foam pad protects them while they are moved, and the tough, slippery, vinyl coated base slides easily over indoor and outdoor surfaces. A foot pocket keeps the feet in place and can be made with an inverted pleat for extra leg room.
Hospital Aids manufactures the Ski Pad to individual requirements, including a Mini Ski Pad for children and a double thickness version for people with brittle bones; variants with extra straps, shorter lengths and extra long buckle straps are also available.
