The ResQMat enables designated staff to rapidly and safely evacuate people with mobility problems in an emergency. With built-in padding and an extra pillow under the head, the ResQmat is safe and comfortable for the user – even when going downstairs.

Manufacturer:

The four wide velcro straps completely enclose the occupant to help prevent them from reaching out and keeps them safe as they are moved to safety. Suitable for patients or residents who require extra protection to their head in the evacuation because of the built-in padding with extra padding under the head. The ResQmat is safe and comfortable for people when going downstairs and over rough surfaces. It will adjust to size, so the patient does not slip down inside the ResQmat when going downstairs.

Used primarily for the evacuation of patients and residents in healthcare settings such as hospitals, care homes and hospices, the ResQmat is used all around the globe as a substitute for other evacuation devices in the marketplace, such as chairs and conventional stretchers, as they tend to minimise the manual handling problems associated with the traditional methods used.

The ResQmat is ideal for use with both children and adults, thanks to its adjustable design. The internal foam mattress, built-in pillow and enclosed design help to protect the individual while being moved and keep them comfortable and secure once at a point of safety – which is particularly important for patients/residents with dementia who may become distressed or wander during an emergency.

A product information DVD is available;  it is not intended to substitute for training as no DVD can correct handling errors or bad habits.

Certified training is also available on this product:  Evacuation Aid Training Course.

Phoenix STS is authorised to deliver “train the trainer” courses using the ResQmat.

Since the changes to the Fire Services Act 1981 in 2003, the Fire Service is no longer obliged to provide a “complete evacuation service” for premises, thus placing the onus upon the business owner and changes in the ‘Disability Act’ – which now states that everyone must have the same right of evacuation in an emergency.
