The base model is a popular choice for most rescue scenarios typically practised by emergency rescue professionals, including Confined Space, USAR, Chemical/Biological Hazards, Road Traffic Collision (RTC) and general handling exercises – ensuring effective, realistic training. The Duty Range is an excellent Fire Training Manikin. The fire service favours it due to its robust and durable exterior, which matches fire service training well. However, it is equally popular with those carrying out a variety of rescue and safety training scenarios where a hard-wearing and realistically weighted body is required.

It is constructed using the same specification flame retardant Polyester used in Police ballistic/stab vests. This material typically has four times the strength and abrasion resistance of 16oz canvas or P.V.C. (the materials previously used), making the manikins even stronger.

Features & Benefits

  • Anatomically correct weight distribution to give the ‘feel’ of an unconscious casualty.
  • A solid webbing loop at the back allows easy handling, hauling aloft, storage, and suspension for drying.
  • Built to endure the harshest conditions, this product can withstand being buried under concrete or steel lintels, driven over by a 4×4 vehicle, or dropped from a 2nd-floor window, all without a scratch.
  • Water-repellent material, making it suitable for wet or foul scenarios such as HAZMAT/CBRN
  • Soft body joints eliminate the risk of pinch welts and bruising, common injuries when using plastic-bodied manikins.
  • An immobilisation/extrication collar can be fitted around the neck of the adult manikins to promote proper casualty care.
  • Using the shoutbox feature (optional extra), you can personalise a recorded message for up to 60 seconds, e.g. “Help, I can’t feel my legs…” which can be periodically repeated.
  • It comes complete with boots, which are easily replaced if damaged.

Product Details

Available in various sizes and weights, from the 5kg Baby to the 90kg adult. We also offer shorter adult manikins, which some of our customers often prefer. These are provided at 1.7 metres, 30 kg, 50 kg, and 70 kg. Alternatively, some shorter manikins are purchased when the trainer wants a manikin more representative of a female casualty.

It’s important to note that the manikins are designed for specific training scenarios. While they can withstand temperatures up to 100°C, we recommend the Fire House training manikin for temperatures above this or where ‘flash-over’ may occur. Similarly, the Duty model, with its normal weighting, is not suitable for deep-water rescue scenarios. We recommend the Water Rescue dummy, designed to float appropriately for such situations.
